Blush is a reality TV show broadcasted on the Lifetime Television channel that showcases a competition between a number of aspiring make up artists from USA. The winner of this competition gets a cash prize worth 100,000$, a contract with Max factor and an opportunity to be the make up artist for an In Style photo shoot. In this competition, the participants go through a series of challenges. In each episode, the participants compete in makeup competitions that test the skills and personality of the participant. The main thing they use in the competition is powder blush makeup.
The show began in 2008 with nine participants, each participant being an aspiring make up artist. The format of Blush was similar to the format of Project Runway. The goal of the show was to discover the next great American make up artist. All the participants lived together in Los Angeles for the show. The show premiered on November 11, 2008.
The host of the show was actress Vanecia Marcil, best known for the movie "General Hospital" for she got the Emmy Award. There were three judges to determine the winner apart from a mentor for the artists. Fashion director Hal Rubenstein and celebrity make up artist Joanna Schlip were the judges whereas renowned make up artist Charlie Green was the mentor. Blush got great response from the public. Particularly, Mauria "Mo", Maxi and Todd Homme became very popular with the viewers.
Blush was a six episode TV series. In each episode, a participant got eliminated. The first candidate to get eliminated was Jessica Millington. Rainell got eliminated in the second episode whereas Sharzad and Myke got eliminated in the third. After five episodes, the competition got reduced to the three finalists. They were Todd Homme, Maxi and Nolan. Todd Homme and Maxi were eliminated in the sixth and final episode. Nolan went on to win the final and the competition. He was given the prize amount of 100,000$ and signed a contract with Max Factor.
Blush was one of the most popular television shows of the year 2008. The show was a hit and became very popular. It also got a lot of attention with the unfortunate death of one of its finalists, Todd Homme. Homme was found dead in his home in New York in December, 2008. He was only 23 years old. Todd Homme was very popular on the show and in fact was one of the favorites to win the title.
Todd died a few days before the final episode of Blush got aired thus leaving the entire team at a loss. Blush may come back this year on television.
